There are very few poets like Devesh "Alakh" in contemporary Hindi literature who have written poems on varied topics which range from satire to romance, from human weaknesses to beauty of nature. His poetry is characterized by simple and everyday language and images which string together to convey complex themes. While his succinct style of poetry easily connects with readers, his satires are declamatory and profound which forces readers to think and ponder.

Readers call his inimitable style of writing "Alakh Andaaz".

He has been working in Government of Rajasthan for the last twenty nine years and has held responsible posts in government but writing poetry has always been his first love. He wrote his first satire at the age of thirteen. He has participated in All India Kavi Sammelans and shared stage with luminaries of Hindi poetry like Gopaldas Neeraj, Kumar Vishwas to name a few.

His second book "ख़्वाब अधखुली आँखों के" ("Khwab Adhkhuli Aanknon Ke") is now amongst the readers along with his first book "कुछ पल... अपने पल" ("Kuch Pal... Apne Pal").
